How do you perceive former American Idol judge Paula Abdul? If you do not know her background, you will probably be among the people who mistakenly perceived her as stupid.

Paula Abdul is back on television and one of the things you will hear from her during an interview with Julie Chen to be broadcast on Sunday morning at CBS are the words, "I AM intelligent, I AM,”  according to the interview transcript released Thursday.

Having said that she is intelligent, Chen made a follow-up statement and told Paula, "But, people don't give you enough credit for having a brain,"

Paula answered, "Having a brain, that's a concept, yes, with Paula Abdul. I have a brain.”

Paula Abdul said, “Stupid” is the most annoying misperceptions people think about her. She admits that she is naturally goofy and sometimes her actions on public are un-predictable but according to her, those are not because of alcohol or drugs.

Her Unusual behaviors during the American idol show ignites rumors that she is alcoholic or taking drugs.

Paula emphasized, "I've never had a drinking problem. Even though I've been in this business for quite some time. I've never physically been drunk in my life. I've never been drunk in my life. I don't use recreational drugs. But, I am goofy."

"It's Paula. It is Paula. And, even the people on 'Idol' know that none of that existed, ever,” she added.

Paula Abdul will prove her intellect and talent as a dancer and choreographer in her new TV show “Live to Dance” premieres on Tuesday, January 4 at CBS.

According to Paula, Live to Dance is a dance competition very different from other dance shows on TV. "First and foremost, it's about celebration. It's about celebrating acts that move forward as opposed to who's going home. We're the only show that has all ages - you can be anywhere from 6 to 106. You could be a soloist, duo or group of any size. There are some acts that came in with 50 people!" she added.
