'Parks and Recreation' Season 4, Episode 8 Recap - 'Smallest Park'

'Parks and Recreation' Season 4, Episode 8 Recap - 'Smallest Park' I want to say one thing, first off: Tom partners up with Jerry in this episode, which means that they are in fact Tom & Jerry. And that tickles me. I'm sure it was never intentional, but deep down I hope it was. Anyway, onward.

"Smallest Park" saw Leslie and Ben, Chris' "dream team," working on a new project together: making the smallest park in Indiana. By all means, it should be a breeze considering the thing is about 16 square feet in area and doesn't require any environmental impact reports.

However, when Ben tells Leslie that he can't work with her anymore, and that this will be the last project they work on together, Leslie decides to draw it out as long as possible.

The rest of that storyline ambles along until the end, but the payoff is huge. Firstly, the park that Leslie put together is just about the cutest little park you've ever seen. That makes it the perfect spot for her to apologize to Ben for "steamrolling" and tell him that she wants to be with him.

Though I am a man--a football-watching, Miller-lite-drinking man--I could barely contain a "squee!" when Leslie said "This is how I feel, how do you feel?" and Ben went in and kissed her. Those two. April and Andy are going to have to start doing some seriously cute stuff if they're going to compete.

The other storylines had some winning moments as well. Speaking of April and Andy, the dumber of the two has decided he wants to go to college and get some learnin' done, which leads to a series of class audits, which leads to hilarity because Andy and college don't mix. Highlights include him pretending to be a beginner at guitar to get an easy A, and sitting in on a class about the mechanics of lasers in hopes that he gets to play with one.

Finally he settles on a women's studies class, which he, April, and Ron all love. Who wants to put money on Ron starting something up with the professor?

But the class is almost $1,000, which Andy doesn't have. That's when Ron gets cute and offers Andy the Ron Swanson Scholarship. Pretty good, right?

Lastly, we also got to see Tom finally win one, as his brief foray into the entrepreneurial world seems to have taught him a little something about branding. While Jerry basically tells Tom to never think outside the box as they work to choose a different font for the department's logo, Tom comes up with an awesome idea: use the retro logo from the 1970's, call it a limited edition, and sell hats and shirts. A-may-zingggg!

Other notes:

-"For what it's worth, I think you would make an incredible brunette. Ron Swanson."

-"One of the most significant bummers of my lifetime."

-"I want to be burned at the stake."

-"That was really hard to hear. So many negative words."

-"I know! I'm going to beg for money in the street like a drug addict."

-"One thing i promised myself when i buried gold in my backyard is that i wouldn't be a hoarder or a miser about it."

And, for good measure, here's a picture of (supposedly) the smallest park in the world. Mill Ends Park in Portland, Oregon:
