Parker Posey to Join 'New Girl' Cast

The countdown begins to the “New Girl” big event…

No, not the much-awaited moment when Nick and Jess take their first hesitant kiss—we’ve got a feeling that one’s a ways away—but to the triumphant removal of Schmidt’s penis cast.

Huzzah!

And it looks like we’ll be welcoming a new lady to the glorious celebration. Parker Posey has signed up to play a shot girl for the removal party.

Yes, there’s going to be a party. Of course there’s going to be a party.

So will dry-voiced comedic talent Posey prove a new love interest for the newly single Schmidt? We’ve already been teased with the man coming into Cece’s scene, so why not Schmidt?

This has the potential to be pretty awesome. Frankly, Posey has an attitude that could tear Schmidt into itty bitty, neatly-folded pieces. And, man, does he love those bossy ladies.

Posey is also fresh from a very well-received guest appearance on FX's hit, "Louis," so we think she'll step into a pair of high heels and manage just fine on the "New Girl" season premiere.

Posey is actually stepping in to replace “Knocked Up” actress and (Judd Apatow wife), Leslie Mann. Mann had originally signed on for the role, but isn’t “available” anymore. But the busy lady was appropriately apologetic.

“I love him so much, like, I love Schmidt,” she confessed about passing up the role. “I’m bummed.”

Schmidt, otherwise known as Max Greenfield, has received an Emmy nomination for his hilarious portrayal of the goofy, product-obsessed but loveable Schmidt, and we think he and the witty, deadpan talent that is Parker Posey will stir up some hilarious moments, and, hopefully, a little sexual tension.
