'Pan' Trailer Shows a Much Grittier Peter Pan than NBC's

With all the excitement over the prospect of hate-watching NBC's "Peter Pan Live!" musical, every seemed to have forgotten that there was a Peter Pan movie coming out next year.

Of course this isn't saying much, but we still mean it as a compliment when we say that it looks way better than NBC's version.

The movie tells the origin story of Peter Pan, as opposed to focusing on the story usually told of the Darling family. In this version of the story, Peter starts out as an orphan in London who is snatched from the orphanage by the pirate Blackbeard (played by Hugh Jackman) and taken away to Neverland.

There, he meets a colorful cast of characters and sees an even more colorful array of locales across Neverland. He even seems to befriend a young Captain Hook, who is not yet a Captain (or even a pirate) and still has both hands.

The movie also stars Amanda Seyfried as Peter's mother, and Rooney Mara as Tiger Lily.

Overall, it looks like a visually stunning movie that should be pretty action-packed. Given the recent movie marketplace, it's clear that people love an origin story, so this has the potential to do quite well.

"Pan" hits theaters in Summer of 2015. Check out the trailer below:
