Oscar Favorites: Who's Got the Best Chance of Winning?

If you think that Oscar Night, which is this Sunday, February 28, is all about art, you're obviously not a betting person. Professional odds-makers are working hard to make sure that Oscar wagerers know exactly who are the front runners and who are the long shots in the competition to take home those golden statuettes.

At this point, the night's biggest award - the Best Picture Oscar - is one of the most difficult races to call. The favorite is The Revenant, but The Big Short and Spotlight are not too far behind. Much less likely to win are The Martian, Mad Max: Fury Road, Room, Bridge of Spies and Brooklyn. The Revenant's director, Alejandro Inarritu, is also the favorite to take home the Best Director award, although Mad Max's George Miller could pull off an upset.

It's much, much more likely that Leonardo DiCaprio will win the Best Actor Oscar for his role in The Revenant. Odds-makers have his chances at nearly 75%, and he'll not face much competition from the likes of The Martian's Matt Damon or Jobs' Michael Fassbender.

The Best Actress category is not such a sure thing, but chances are good that the award will go to Room's Brie Larson. The front runner for Best Supporting Actor is Sylvester Stallone for his role in Creed, and the favorite for Best Supporting Actress is The Danish Girl's Alicia Vikander.
