'Orphan Black' Renewed for a Third Season

'Orphan Black' Renewed for a Third Season Good news, Clone Club: "Orphan Black" is getting another season!

The BBC America genre drama has officially been renewed after a nail-biter of a week following the season two finale. The ratings for the show remained on the weaker side during the second season, though it did end up with about 1.3 million viewers for the season two finale.

However, other metrics were strong for the show. Though the ratings weren't huge, they were still double what the show brought in during its first season. Additionally, social media interaction was strong, as the show ranked #3 on Twitter among ad-supported cable dramas.

There are many reasons for fans to be happy about the renewal, especially considering the major reveal that happened at the end of the season two finale. But in addition to the show itself, the renewal gives hope that lead actress Tatiana Maslany could get a well-deserved Emmy nomination next year after a snub in the recently announced list of noms.

Production on the 10-episode third season will begin in September, aiming for an early 2015 premiere date.
