'The Originals' Preview: Is Klaus' Rescue Imminent?
by EG
When the fourth season of The Originals premiered on The CW last week, it had a lot of weight on its shoulders. Its parent series, The Vampire Diaries, had just ended, and unless another spin-off surfaces in the near future, The Originals needs to satisfy the vampire hunger of a lot of fans.
Season four of The Originals began with a five-year time jump. In the interval between Klaus' defeat at the end of season three and the premiere, New Orleans has been existing in a state of uneasy peace between the vampires and the witches. The problem is, now there's a new threat to Marcel's rule in town, and Klaus might pay the price.
That premiere episode drew 1.06 million total viewers and a .3 rating in the 18-49 age demographic. That's just a little bit behind the series finale of TVD, which attracted a season-high 1.14 million total viewers and a .4 rating.
Now, as the second episode of the season is set to air, fans will be treated to theĀ Mikaelson siblings' plot to free Klaus from captivity. We don't know yet if they're going to be successful, but we know at least that Klaus will get some mental respite when a Tunde-Blade-induced hallucination gives him visions of Camille.
The season's second episde, "No Quarter," airs Friday, March 24, on The CW.
