Original Batman, Robin and Catwoman Return for New Movie
by EG
You won't be able to see their faces, but the stars of the original Batman TV series will reunite and lend their voices to a new animated feature film. Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders will bring back the actors in a direct-to-video feature designed to evoke the feel of the campy 1960s series.
Adam West as Batman and Burt Ward as Robin will be joined by Julie Newmar, the actress who played the series' original verson of Catwoman. According to Batman's description of the new movie, the film will also feature appearances by the Joker, Penguin and the Riddler. The dynamic duo will battle this all-star line up of supervillains "on Earth and in space."
The trio of actors are the last living members of the TV series' original principal cast. Cesar Romero, who played the Joker, Burgess Meredith, who played the Penguin, and Frank Gorshin, who played the Riddler, have all passed away.
Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders will be debut on Digital HD for downloading on October 11, and it will be available on Blu-Ray beginning on November 1.
Meanwhile in the DC theatrical universe, Ben Affleck's version of Batman will likely next appear in November 2017's Justice League Part One, although an appearance in Wonder Woman in June of next year is not out of the question.
