Only 13 Episodes of 'Game of Thrones' Left
by EG
It's been a week of bittersweet news for fans of Game of Thrones. We got news that the series' upcoming season has a definite premiere date, but we also learned that the end of the series is significantly closer than we thought it was. It's now official that there are just a bit more of a dozen hours of GoT left, and then it's all over.
HBO announced last week that season seven, which has been delayed by a pushed-back shooting schedule, would debut on July 6, 2017. That's several months later than the typical spring-time premiere date.
We also learned that season seven would be only seven episodes long. That's 30% shorter than the typical ten-episode season length. The assumption had been that the eighth and final season would be eight episodes long, given that producers had suggested that there were 15 more episodes to go.
But that turned out not to be true. The official announcement came this week that season eight will be a mere six episodes long, or just more than half as long as each of the first six seasons.
So, GoT will wrap after 13 more episodes, beginning in July. Be ready to savor each and every one of them.
