One More for 'Eureka'

One More for 'Eureka' We reported yesterday that the popular Syfy series "Eureka," which had been rising in the ratings and gaining a following over four seasons, would be cancelled after the fifth and final season.

The network had reportedly ordered six episodes of a sixth season, but then backed out of the deal, and decided to close up shop for good, prompting a petition to save the show.

Perhaps the petition did some good, as the network has agreed to give the show one more additional final episode to at least wrap up the storylines for the show's fans.

According to EW, "It seems production on season 5 is nearly finished, and episode 13 is one of the show’s characteristic cliffhangers. Producers needed an extra hour to give fans any kind of closure".

As a writer, the idea of force-fitting an end to the storyline into one final, unforeseen show sounds a little forced, and could lead to some ridiculously abrupt "closure" indeed, but at least fans and the writers get one last chance to visit "Eureka" before it's all over with.
