One 'Glee' Guy is Gone...Was it Darren Criss, Chord Overstreet or Harry Shum Jr. Who Was Fired? The winds of change are coming to McKinley High as three "Glee" stars are in the news today: Darren Criss, who came on mid-season to play Kurt's object of affection Blaine; Chord Overstreet, who was hired on early in the season to provide another male voice to New Directions as Sam; and Harry Shum Jr., who has been around since the beginning as Mike Chang but only this season started getting his own lines and solo performances.

One of these three didn't get his contract renewed. So who got the boot?

It was Chord Overstreet who got the demotion. Overstreet was on as a series regular, but according to Deadline his contract has not been picked up for season three. The actor/singer reacted on Twitter, saying, "It’s been a good year. Too bad it’s over. Time for summer and starting fresh."

Don't start writing angry letters to Ryan Murphy yet, fans: Overstreet will likely still appear on the show, just in a more limited capacity. This means Sam will likely not be attending McKinley anymore, but could show up from time to time as a guest star, much like Charice did last season.

There's good news out of all of this, though: Darren Criss and Harry Shum Jr. have been upgraded to series regulars! It looks like with Sam playing less of a role, there will be room for Criss and Shum to take more of the spotlight. Does that mean that Blaine will be transferring to McKinley High? Looks like that's a possibility.
