Watch: One Direction's 'Drag Me Down' is Stellar

On Thursday afternoon, rumors that One Direction's new video for the song "Drag Me Down" was coming soon, fans probably didn't realize how soon "soon" was. The video hit the internet later the same day, and it didn't disappoint.

The video features the boys in space suits, undergoing some astronaut-training workouts, cruising around in spacey-looking vehicles and hanging out with robots, all of it intercut with shots of the group performing the song at a vast NASA facility. The clip culminates with the guys climbing aboard a rocket and blasting into orbit as NASA employees at Mission Control cheer wildly.

Fans should not be worried, however, that the group has left the planet. The video is 1D's first on-screen project since Zayne Malik left the band back in March, and if there was any doubt that the remaining four members would be able to continue as quartet, the video puts those doubts to rest.

And if there was any question that fans would remain loyal after Zayn's departure, well, those doubts should be gone, too. When Apple announced earlier this week that 1D would headline the 2015 Apple Music Festival in London in September, ticket sales for the 10-day event soared, as have ticket sales for the group's upcoming UK tour.

In the meantime, 1D is wrapping up its US tour with dates in Detroit, Cleveland, Milwaukee and Chicago.
