One Dead After Stage Collapse at Radiohead Concert
by Andy NeuenschwanderReports from Toronto say that one stage technician is dead and at least a few more crew members are injured after the stage collapsed at a Radiohead concert.
While the details as to what caused the collapse are unclear, we know that the incident occurred just a few hours before the band was set to take the stage at Downsview Park in Toronto, Canada. Fans were lined up outside the venue when the incident happened, and it appears that the stage crew were the only ones close enough to be harmed.
Just last year, seven people were killed, including audience members, in a stage collapse at a Sugarland concert at the Indiana State Fair due to high winds. That incident brought on a civil suit and a great deal of controversy once the tragedy of the situation had settled.
The Radiohead concert, which was set to start at 7:30PM, has of course been cancelled as announced by event host Live Nation.
Pictures and videos have been uploaded to Twitter by fans, including this video posted by TMZ, which claims to be footage of the stage collapse:
