'Once Upon a Time' Casts its 'Frozen' Queen Elsa
by Shannon KeirnanHere she is!
A few days ago we noted that Scott Michael Foster and Elizabeth Lail had been cast as "Frozen" characters Kristoff and Anna respectively, for the upcoming season of "Once Upon a Time."
Now, we can finally say that Elsa herself has been cast as well.
The ice queen will be played on the ABC fantasy series by "Fringe" actress Georgina Haig, who played the daughter of Peter (Joshua Jackson) and Olivia (Anna Torv) on the final season of the series.
"We are very well aware of how beloved ["Frozen''] is, so we're very careful that we want to tell a story that is uniquely ours but also honors those characters that everyone fell in love with this past year," says "Once Upon a Time" creator Adam Horowitz.
Co-creator Eddy Kitsis added that on the show, much like for a time in the film, Queen Elsa will be perceived as a villain but is "clearly misunderstood."
The "Once Upon a TIme" Elsa will also be picking up after the events of "Frozen." Specifically, she will know that her love for her sister is the key to controlling her impressive powers.
On the season finale, a massive spell that would have wiped out Storybrooke was intercepted, but still managed to evoke the blue-gowned queen. There was no sign of Anna or Kristoff following her into existence, so will Elsa's powers be tested until Anna can be brought in to aid?
