Will Olsens Come to Fuller House in Season 2?
by EG
Netflix announced this week that it has ordered a second season of the Full House revival series, Fuller House. The renewal didn't come as much of a surprise, but it did raise questions about whether or not Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, who declined to be involved in the revival's first season, will peek in for a cameo during the second season.
Fuller House focuses on the characters of D.J. and Stephanie Tanner, played by Candace Cameron Bure and Jodie Sweetin, who are living and raising D.J.'s children together. Notably missing from the scenario is D.J. and Stephanie's sister, Michelle, who was played jointly in the original series by the Olsen twins. Mary-Kate and Ashley reportedly decided not to appear in the revival because of busy work schedules and Ashley's unwillingness to act again.
The series' renewal just days after its first-season debut on Netflix is not unusual; not many Netflix original series fail to pick up at least a second season, and it was always unlikely that the service would give up quickly on a series that has a ready-made fanbase. Critics have been savage in their negative reviews of the revival, however, and because Netflix closely guards viewership numbers for all of its content, there's no way of knowing how many people are actually watching Fuller House.
As for the Olsen twins, the likelihood that they'll change their minds and show up for season 2 seems remote at best. The series' critical drubbing doesn't give them much incentive to attach their names to the project, and presumably their schedules are still busy and Ashley still doesn't want to act. For now, fans will probably have to remain content with two out of three Tanner sisters.
