Oh God No: Watch 'Real Housewives' Star NeNe Leakes Guest On 'Glee' (VIDEO)
by Andy NeuenschwanderBack when Ryan Murphy promised "Glee" fans that the show would get back to basics for season three and feature fewer guest stars, I don't think he meant that he meant that the guest stars that he did have would be completely awful.
Yes, Murphy is breaking his promise to us in order to bring us "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" star NeNe Leakes in a guest appearance on "Glee." Why? I don't know, maybe Leakes just got herself a very persuasive new agent.
It certainly can't be due to Leakes' acting ability: some B-roll footage of Leakes' appearance on the upcoming episode "Yes/No" has hit the Web, and Leakes does about as well with the dialogue as you would expect her to.
It's bad enough that we're going to have to watch Leakes "act" in an upcoming episode of a show that already looks to be stooping back to dreaded season 2 levels of quality, but the fact that this role could have gone to someone else, an actual actress perhaps, is infuriating.
A similar incident occurred with Tyler Perry's new movie "The Marriage Counselor," when it came out that Kim Kardashian was set to take a role. A lot of the controversy came from the fact that Kim's divorce had just happened, but many fans also voiced displeasure over giving the reality star, who often gets paid $10,000 just to tweet, a role that could have gone to someone else.
Similarly, Leakes' role as the swimming coach could have been filled by another actress, either new talent or a cameo from someone established as an actress. There are so few roles for black actresses as it is, why give one to a talentless reality star?
Check out the footage for yourself, and let us know what you think: should NeNe have been given the role?
