'The OC' and 'Friday Night Lights' Mash-Up: Scott Porter and Rachel Bilson to Star in 'Hart of Dixie'

'The OC' and 'Friday Night Lights' Mash-Up: Scott Porter and Rachel Bilson to Star in 'Hart of Dixie' It's a tale as old as time. Or at least a tale as old as "Sweet Home Alabama." A big city girl moves back to a small southern town and falls in love with the simple life.

That's what we're likely to get with the new CW pilot in the works called "Hart of Dixie." The pilot stars Rachel Bilson as a successful doctor in New York City who inherits her own practice in a small town in the South. The pilot was written by Leila Gerstein, who wrote the short-lived show "Eli Stone."

The cast so far is a mash-up of "The O.C." and "Friday Night Lights" as Bilson will be joined by Scott Porter, who appeared on FNL and is currently cast in CBS's critically acclaimed "The Good Wife" as investigator Blake Calamar.

The pilot has a familiar synopsis, and not only rings a bit of "Sweet Home Alabama," but also mirrors the recently announced CMT made-for-TV movie "Reel Love" starring LeAnn Rimes as a big city girl who returns to her southern roots and finds love.

My guess is there will be a handsome southern man in the picture for Bilson as well...probably Porter.

What do you think, CW fans? Does "Hart of Dixie" sound like a show that would fit in with the likes of "Gossip Girl" and "The Vampire Diaries"?
