'Nurse Jackie' Star Edie Falco: 'Who the Hell is Kim Kardashian?'

'Nurse Jackie' Star Edie Falco: 'Who the Hell is Kim Kardashian?' Just a few days ago, Reese Witherspoon took an indirect shot at Kim Kardashian during the MTV Movie Awards, saying that she always thought that sex tapes were something to be hidden away. Now it looks like someone else is taking shots at Kim K: "Nurse Jackie" star Edie Falco.

The oft-nominated Falco sat down with Vulture to discuss the biz and the upcoming Emmy race, and the subject turned to reality TV. Falco, who also played the feisty Carmela Soprano in "The Sopranos," is apparently not a fan.

Here's her full response, courtesy of NYmag:

"Like, forgive me, I don’t know if you’re friends with her — but who the hell is Kim Kardashian? Like, who are these people and why are they famous and why are they advertising things and being asked their opinions about things? I just don’t understand what these people did to be in a position of having everyone ask their opinions about stuff. I mean, if there’s something about her personality or something that she’s accomplished or her philosophy on something — but beyond that I don’t understand what’s happening. It’s actually frightening."

Coming from a woman who has worked her butt off in the entertainment industry and earned Emmy and Tony nominations (and consecutive Emmy wins for "The Sopranos"), I'd say that's a perfectly legitimate statement. It used to be that you would need some kind of talent--or at least something important to say--in order to be famous. Now you just need a sex tape.

Do you agree with Edie and Reese? Or should everyone just leave Kimmy alone?
