Which Romantic Movie Will Your Girl Like? Check Out Our 5 Personality- Based Suggestions!
by Shannon Keirnan
Valentine's Day is here! Gentlemen, have you planned properly? No? Well, with time running low to make the perfect impression, you can check out our helpful guide below. Just pick the relationship personality that best matches your lady, and voila! Evening planned!
The Uber-Romantic: “The Notebook.”
She loves the mushy stuff. You often catch her staring into your eyes for extended periods of time, and don’t you dare go out in public without holding her hand. She appreciates a big gesture and expects them monthly. Your girl lives and breathes for you, and your beautiful poetic romance. Make sure you show her how much you care by whipping up a gorgeous candle-lit dinner, and writing her a card that explains how deep your love is. Put “The Notebook” on for the evening, because let’s face it... if she’s a bird, you’re a bird.
The Traditionalist: “Romeo + Juliet”
Now, your girl isn’t over-the-top crazy for the romance, but she appreciates a nice gesture (and some top-shelf chocolate) on this most romantic of days. Take her to her favorite restaurant, and afterwards, pour a glass of her favorite wine (which you totally took note of, right?) and settle in for “Romeo + Juliet.” It’s a perfect classic, and so is she.
The Non-Conformist: “The Corpse Bride”
She’s a bit of a wild child - you’re never entirely sure what her true hair color is (though you’re pretty confident it is not naturally blue), and at least one of her pets could eat (or at very least maim) you. She’ll give you That Look if you buy her flowers and chocolates... maybe try throwing a pair of hard-to-get concert tickets into a pretty red envelope instead, and check out “The Corpse Bride.” It’s dark, it’s quirky, it’s cute. Just like her.
The Drama Queen: “Phantom of the Opera.”
She loves you, she loves you not. You often find her sighing loudly, whether over something you’ve done wrong, something she imagines you’ve done wrong, or just because it’s Wednesday and she’s rethinking her life again. She’s easily swayed and easily riled, but the excitement keeps you hooked on this lady. Make sure your Valentine has some (non-expensive) glasses of champagne around tonight, to drink from with finesse and potentially throw at you if the mood hits her. Pop “Phantom of the Opera” into the DVD player. She’ll relate to the dreamy girl who can’t quite make up her mind over the good guy or the bad guy and gets to wear great costumes while choosing. Note: bonus points if you wear black and look a little haunted.
The Roller Coaster Ride: “Say Anything.”
You’re crazy about this girl, but it seems like everything is keeping you from making it work. You’re together, you’re apart. You’re planning to elope, then she never wants to see you again. Can this crazy love be salvaged? Find that One Thing she lost all those years ago (a childhood teddy bear? her mother’s heirloom necklace?) to knock her off her feet, and get a little extra help from “Say Anything.” Watching two kids in love in a world tearing them apart will cement the deal. She’s not missing anything important from her past? Devote that search time to finding a trench coat and a boom box.
