No More Cuddy? Lisa Edelstein Leaving 'House' for Season Eight

No More Cuddy? Lisa Edelstein Leaving 'House' for Season Eight If you were hoping to see how the Cuddy/House romance turns out in season eight of "House," you're out of luck.

According to a report by Deadline, Lisa Edelstein (who plays Cuddy on the hit Fox show) will not be returning for the next--and probably last--season.

Why the abrupt exit? Well, Edelstein's contract expired this year, along with those of co-stars Omar Epps and Robert Sean Leonard. The two men decided to re-up and come back for next season, but Edelstein has reportedly passed. Apparently, all three stars were asked to take a pay cut as "House" struggles with finances in its later years.

Not only does this mean that the Huddy relationship will be cut off, but the show will now be fairly skewed in terms of gender: the only recurring female actor on the series will be Olivia Wilde, who isn't all that recurring now that she's a big movie star.

That said, although it looks like it's going to happen, it's not yet confirmed that Edelstein is leaving. There is also the chance that even if she terminates her contract as a series regular, she might be able to come back for an episode or two and tie up loose ends.
