Is Nicki Minaj Returning to 'American Idol?'

Fans may love Nicki Minaj as a judge on “American Idol” for her sassy and straight-shooting attitude, but it may be just that which keeps her from returning to the table next season.

It’s not just her well publicized feud with fellow judge Mariah Carey that’s an issue—although that certainly has been a problem. Minaj is also accused of showing up late to work and being rude to crew members.

“The chances of Nicki returning to the show next season are slim to none, she is such a major headache with her behavior and it’s really taxing on many people with the crew. So her behavior is wearing thin on many people this season,” says a source close to the show.

And then, of course, there’s the feud.

Mariah Carey told Barbara Walters of the initial public fight, “What you heard was troublesome. What the real problem is that when Nicki walked off the set, multiple people heard Nicki say ‘If I had a gun, I would shoot the b**ch.’ She was overheard by several producers and hairdressers.”

Minaj didn’t apologize for the words, either. She simply told Carey, “I love you, but we may fight again,” to which Mariah replied “no, we won’t.”

"Would I come back next season? I think people would rather be surprised," the singer hedged when asked. "I like to save the mystery and the drama. I'd never give that away. I always say this and I mean it from the bottom of my heart, just that people behind the scenes at 'Idol' have been a dream to work with. I'm just super grateful to have been given the opportunity."
