Nick Lachey and Wife Vanessa Welcome Their First Child!

Well, Jessica Simpson, you did it—you may have fallen a little behind on the second marriage, but you sure did beat Nick Lachey on the baby race.

However that victory was a short one. After what, seriously, seems like a million years, Lachey’s wife, Vanessa (formerly) Minnillo, has finally given birth to a baby boy.

So what did the "Big Morning Buzz Live" star and his wife name their long-awaited kidlet?

"We are incredibly proud to announce the birth of our beautiful baby boy, Camden John Lachey… Born today at 6:54 p.m., he came into this world at 8 pounds, 9 ounces and 21 inches. Love has truly been redefined for both of us,” the couple announced in a statement.

Well that’s actually a nice, normal name for once. Rather refreshing in a world where celebrities are now trying to outdo one another with the weirdest baby names possible. Nothing too untoward that rhymes with Camden, right?

The Lacheys have been keeping their Twitter followers updated on the pregnancy, tweeting regularly gems like “#MaternityMonday: Thru all the “symptoms” & worrying, know how Beautiful & Magical these moments are. Love yourself & be kind to yourself,” as well as uploading plenty of pictures of that huge bump as it grew.

The two met in 2006 and wed last summer in a tiny, 35-person tropical ceremony. Guests were given plane tickets rather than invitations, and flown out for the surprise nuptials.

"We told them they were going away and the attire was ‘island chic.' It was all very vague,” said Lachey of the gathering.

Kristen Cavallari, who recently gave birth to her own Camden with fiancé Jay Cutler, tweeted:

"Apparently Camden is a popular name!”

Congratulations, Nick and Vanessa! Here's hoping you both get some sleep.
