NFL QB Michael Vick Cancels 'Oprah' Interview

NFL QB Michael Vick Cancels 'Oprah' Interview Michael Vick can’t seem to shake off the trouble that he stirred up a few years ago. To sum it up quick – Vick had an illegal dogfighting ring, went to prison, paid his dues, got out and went back to work. However, even though he spent years behind bars, some people aren’t willing to forgive and forget. Vick still seems to be paying for his crimes.

Vick was scheduled to tape an interview with Oprah Winfrey, where he talked about the problems and the successes in his life both before and after the dogfighting ordeal. No one suspected that he would be able to make such a remarkable comeback once he got out of prison.

Oprah wanted to sit down and have a discussion about his ups and downs, but apparently it's a no-go.

"Michael Vick was scheduled to be a guest on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' for an episode airing next Thursday, February 24," a spokesman for Harpo Productions said in a statement to the N.Y. Daily News.

"Mr. Vick's representative called last night to cancel his appearance for personal reasons."

Depending on how you look at it, other viewers have a different opinion. Dog lovers think they are the reason he cancelled.

"Unfortunately, Michael Vick has backed out of an opportunity to face tough questions regarding his participation in animal cruelty, including the torture of his own family pets," Richard Hunter, host of the "Richard Hunter Show" host told USA Today.

"There was an overwhelming call from the dog adopters and their advocates to Oprah to have our voices included in the episode, and that may have been more than Mr. Vick was willing to endure."

Is it unfortunate that Vick can’t escape his past, even years later. Do you think he has paid his dues to society? Other NFL players have committed crimes and went to jail, why is Vick getting picked on?
