Next Week On 'Glee': Ricky Martin Is Sexy And He Knows It
by Sean ComerSPOILER! Next week on "Glee," Ricky Martin plays a boorish, miogynistic German man who secretly really digs Bauhaus!
If I were yanking your chain anymore, you'd be choked out by now.
"Glee" has really skimped on the celebrity cameos this season, but the big guns come out for the third season's second half with Martin dropping by a very Spanglish episode this Tuesday for the first famous pop-in this go-round.
As reported already, Martin will el mas caliente of all Ohio Spanish teachers - and that rare one that calls Will Schuester's (Matthew Morrison) own language skills on the carpet. But of course, Martin wasn't hand-picked as a guest star just because he's multi-lingual eye candy. Oh, no. He's also here to heat McKinley High with some spicy moves and suave songs as only the Latin-pop icon can. He even makes LMFAO's "Sexy And I Know It" more than bearable - he actually trumps the duo's original.
Personally, I'm no LMFAO fan. They make catchy-but-dumb pop music. But every once and a while, "Glee" gets this one thing right when they take a song, flip its context and redefine it with a cover. "Sexy And I Know It" is an obvious "gag" song: if you've seen these two goofballs, you know there's no way any two people that look like this could have that much deluded genuine swagger about themselves.
Give it to Martin, though. He's got the genuine manner and flair to bring it, make you believe it and where anybody else giving it that sort of attitude might have you calling them a smug such-and-such, you watch Martin and just go "Yeah, you've got it like that."
