'Newsroom' Star Olivia Munn Joins 'X-Men: Apocalypse'

Can Olivia Munn do a British accent? We're going to find out.

The former "The Newsroom" star has officially been cast in the upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse," the follow-up to "X-Men: Days of Future Past."

The news was announced today via director Bryan Singer's Instagram, where he posted a photo of Munn. "Excited to welcome @oliviamunn as Betsy Braddock!" Singer wrote, adding the hashtags, "#Psylocke #XmenApocalypse #XMEN."

Psylocke is a classic X-Men character, originally introduced in the late 1970s. Her powers are mostly psychic in nature, and while she was originally Betsy Braddock, in some storylines she has actually body-swapped with another woman.

Munn joins other new cast members Lana Condor (Jubilee), Kodi Smitt-McPhee (Nightcrawler), "Game of Thrones" star Sophie Turner (Jean Grey), Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), Alexandra Shipp (Storm) and Oscar Isaac (Apocalypse). Channing Tatum, who has signed on to play mutant Gambit in a spin-off, may also appear.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" is currently set to premiere on May 27, 2016.
