Another George Lucas Prequel: New 'Star Wars' Attraction Opening at Disney World

If you've been to Disney World anytime over the last couple of decades, you may have enjoyed the "Star Tours" attraction, a motion-simulated ride through the "Star Wars" universe. This was a ride that was around long before the prequels-that-shall-not-be-named existed, so it was one of few pieces of "Star Wars" fandom untouched by George Lucas' many revamps.

But that's not the case anymore. George Lucas and Disney have given "Star Tours" a complete makeover, giving it a new story (it's essentially a short film that you watch in a room that simulates motion) and putting it in 3D. And yes...it is a prequel.

But before you start freaking out about visions of Jar-Jar Binks invading one of your favorite Disney rides, know that it's set between "Revenge of the Sith" and "A New Hope"...so it's likely to feature more familiar faces from the original trilogy than the new one.

The waiting area has been revamped too, and now features tourism posters and videos inviting you to visit exotic localed like Tattooine, Hoth, and others. Allison Janney voices a tourism spokes-robot named Aly, who introduces you to space tourism.

The big premiere of the new ride was attended by George Lucas himself, as well as other famous "Star Wars" faces like Anthony Daniels, who played C-3PO. "Star Tours: The Adventure Continues" is now open to the public at Disney World in Florida, and an equivalent attraction will be open in Disneyland on June 3rd.

And just for fun, here's the original "Star Tours" ride in full:
