New on Netflix for September: Huge Fall Harvest includes 'Jaws,' 'Zootopia'
by EG
The end of August means the end of summer, and the end of summer means that Hollywood stops releasing its biggest movies to theaters. Fortunately, a new month also means new content on Netflix, so you'll have new options for entertainment right in your very own home. In September, the crop of watchable new titles on the service is arguably bigger than it's been all summer.
Right off the bat, September delivers some high-profile movie titles which, if not exactly new, are a cut above the B-movie crowd. All of the Jaws franchise hits Netflix at the beginning of the month, including the 1975 original, as does Tom Cruise's Top Gun, Kevin Bacon's Footloose and Tom Hanks' Saving Private Ryan. On September 4, the 2004 Best Picture Oscar winner Crash goes online, and so does Chris Pine's 2016 adventure flick The Finest Hours. Recent action movies 3 Days to Kill and London Has Fallen are also on the roster for September.
Perhaps the biggest movie news for the month, though, is the beginning of Netflix's deal with Disney, which will deliver all of the studio's biggest new titles (those released after the beginning of 2016) to the service's subscribers. The first of these movies is the huge hit Zootopia, which comes to Netflix on September 20.
September will also produce a bumper crop of fresh TV series for your viewing pleasure. New seasons of The Blacklist, Supergirl, Scream, Family Guy, Longmire, New Girl, Gotham, The Walking Dead and many more will join the Netflix party this month, and the newest Marvel series, Luke Cage, also debuts on September 30.
