New on Netflix for May
by EG
The slate of new content on Netflix for April 2016 was a bit more exciting than usual, and although the new content for May doesn't quite rise to last month's level, there are still a few shows and movies worth watching coming to the service next month.
The highlight among new theatrical movies is Goosebumps, the kind of recent theatrical hit that doesn't often make it to Netflix so soon after its theatrical run. The horror comedy starring Jack Black debuted last October, and it stayed in the top five on the box-office charts for the first month of its run. Don't look for Goosebumps on Netflix on May 1, though; it doesn't hit the service until May 11.
May is a relatively light month for new original programming on Netflix. The end of the month will see new seasons of Mako Mermaids, Chef's Table and Bloodline, and Lady Dynamite, a comedy series starring comedian Maria Bamford debuts on May 20. Arguably the highest profile new original is Chelsea, the new talk show from Chelsea Handler. It shouldn't be confused with Chelsea Does, the documentary series that Handler debuted on Netflix earlier in the year. The new series begins streaming on May 11.
