New on Netflix for January: Sequels Galore

A new year is almost here, but the list of new titles available for streaming in January of 2016 follows a familiar pattern, That is, there will be plenty of new seasons of TV series and lesser-known sequels to popular movies. There will also be a Netflix original production or two and a long list of titles that will be leaving the service at the first of the year.

The month's new sequel offerings include 2 Fast 2 Furious, Ice Age 2: The Meltdown, Meet the Fockers, and Sharknado 3. In the latter case, you'll be able to binge watch the entire franchise, since Sharknado and Sharknado 2 are already available on the service. In the other two cases, however, the sequels are the only installments in the franchises that Netflix has to offer.

The list of TV series with new seasons debuting on Netflix in January is long, but the highest profile new additions include the fourth season of New Girl and the seventh (and final) season of Parks and Recreation.

Chelsea Handler's new Netflix original series, Chelsea Does, hits the service on January 23, so you'll have to wait almost the entire month before you'll be able to enjoy a large dose of Chelsea.

The list of movies and series leaving Netflix in January is long, too, and it includes Sylvester Stallone's Rocky and Rambo movies, The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy, Mission: Impossible and Mission: Impossible II, A Clockwork Orange and Jackass: The Movie.
