New on Netflix for August: Fast, Furious and Louis CK
by EG
Netflix has cued up an impressive list of movies to add to its streaming catalog for August, including a couple of installments from one of the hottest film franchises around and a new special from one of the hottest comics working today. The list of the month's new TV content is less impressive, but that's to be expected ahead of the deluge of content that will no doubt hit the service once the fall TV season begins.
The month's new movies are headlined by a pair of Fast and Furious movies. The new titles include the franchise's first film, 2001's The Fast and the Furious, and its third, 2006's The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. Both films became available for streaming on August 1.
Another big title, the latest special from comedian Louis CK, will come to Netflix on August 15. Louis C.K.: Live at the Comedy Store was released last year and has previously been available for purchase on the comic's web site. The special's debut on Netflix marks the first time that the show will be available for free (with a Netflix subscription, of course).
The relatively sparse new TV offerings for the month are led by new seasons of some venerable series. NCIS season 13, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit season 17 and Once Upon a Time season five will all come to the service in August.
