New Movies October 30: Sandra Bullock, Bradley Cooper and the Zombie Apocalypse

It's another busy weekend at the box office this week, as three more big wide releases join the already crowded field of hold-overs. Last week, all the new wide releases flopped, and The Martian was the weekend's top-grossing movie in its fourth week of release. Can this week's new movies avoid that trap and finally conquer the aging Martian?

The first new wide release is Our Brand Is Crisis, a politial comedy-drama starring Sandra Bullock and Billy Bob Thornton. Political satire is always a hard sell for wide audiences, and this one is probably going to have a particularly tought time because it's getting negative reviews in advance of its release.

The next new big film this week is Burnt, a drama that stars Bradley Cooper as a gourmet chef who's trying to make a career comeback after struggling with addiction. It's not exactly a fun premise, and this film is also not impressing critics.

The last new wide release is Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, a horror comedy about, well, a zombie apocalypse. It features a cast of young people, but it's definitely not for young audiences. Critics' reviews have suggested that it's really not for any audiences, at least audiences that want to see a good film

Given that none of the new films are receiving positive reviews, The Martian and Goosebumps might have one more weekend without significant new competition.
