New Movies November 18: 'Beasts,' Adolescence and Boxing

Doctor Strange had a good run, but it seems destined to give up the top spot this week to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The Marvel hero is likely not to drop too far, though, and will probably come in second for the weekend.

The first of this week's new wide releases is Fantastic Beasts, an adaptation of the best-selling novel by Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling. This one is a prequel of sorts of the Potterverse, set in the 1920s and starring Eddie Redmayne. Expect it to take in a solid $75 to $80 million over the weekend.

The week's second new wide release is Edge of Seventeen, a coming-of-age film starring Hailee Steinfeld. This one is getting good reviews from critics, but it probably won't take in more than $10 million.

The week's third new release, the boxing pic Bleed for This, likely won't even break the $10-million mark. It's more likely, actually, to come in more around the $5-million mark.

That leaves the door wide open for Doctor Strange and holdovers such as Trolls, Arrival, and Almost Christmas, all of which could edge out two of this week's three new films.
