New Movies Nov. 1-3: 'Ender's Game' Aims to End 'Bad Grandpa''s Reign

If the predictions are correct, "Bad Grandpa" will give up its title in the box office race after one week as the highest-grossing film in theatres. This weekend, three new wide releases are going to give the wacky comedy a run for its money.

The new release that's most likely to be the hottest ticket this weekend is "Ender's Game," a big sci-fi extravaganza based on a popular series of novels. This adaptation stars Harrison Ford and Asa Butterfield in a story in which children are trained to fight alien invaders. Predictions have the film earning about $25 million over the weekend, although there's some concern that it could underperform like several other films aimed at young adult audiences did this year.

"Free Birds," a Thanksgiving-themed animated film about talking turkeys, will be the only new option for families this weekend, and because of that, it could bring in around $20 million if it's lucky.

The final new wide release is "Last Vegas," a comedy about a group of aging pals played by Kevin Kline, Robert De Niro, Michael Douglas and Morgan Freeman. The film has been getting good reviews, but because its appeal is going to be to an older crowd, it's likely to rake in something less than $15 million.
