New Movies July 29: 'Jason Bourne' and Bad Parenting

The revolving door at the top of the box-office charts should continue to turn this week, as one of the week's three big new releases takes the top spot away from Star Trek Beyond. The other two new releases won't be able to fight for the number-one slot, but they could cause some turmoil in the top five.

The hottest new release this week is Jason Bourne, the latest installment in the Bourne franchise. This time around, Matt Damon is back, retaking the Bourne reins from Jeremy Renner, who had the lead role in 2012's The Bourne Legacy. Damon's return should propel Jason Bourne to number one this week, and projections have the film earning somewhere around $50 million for the weekend.

The second-biggest new release this week is Bad Moms, a comedy from the producers of The Hangover franchise. This time around the bad behavior is coming from a group of suburban moms played by Kristen Bell, Mila Kunis and Katherine Hahn. An opening-weekend take of between $20 and $25 million is likely for this one.

The final new release this week is Nerve, a thriller about high-schoolers playing a high-stakes online game. This one is aimed at a younger audience and is releasing on Wednesday night to get a jump on its formidable competition. Expect it to earn $10 to $15 million by the end of the weekend.
