'New Girl' Season 4, Episode 3: 'Julie Berkman's Older Sister' Recap

As expected, there are problems with Nick and Schmidt sharing a room - largely that Nick is a huge slob. Jess reminds everyone to keep it together because her dad is coming to visit with his new girlfriend.

CeCe is excited to see what Jess does to scare this one away, but Jess says her dad seems happy, and she is going to be a good and supportive daughter.

That is until they arrive, and Jess realizes that the new girlfriend, Ashley, went to her high school, and was a huge slut with a drug problem. In fact she slept with Jess' high school boyfriend. And their DARE officer.

Schmidt is panicking about an account on sponges. He needs to figure out how to market them to men. He enlists the guys to help him but doesn't get much from them. At work, he tells his boss that he deserves the account, and lies about how much men like to clean. She tells him to get a focus group together, like now. So he gets Coach, Winston, and Nick to help. The group is clearly rigged and Schmidt gets into trouble. However talking to Nick gives him an idea - marketing sponges as a way to get laid. It works and he gets the account.

Ashley joins them for brunch and talks about how she went to rehab four times for being a sex addict. Jess is twitchy. When her dad and Ashley go to the beach, Jess reads her phone and finds some suggestive texts. She confronts Ashley, who says she is a sex therapist now. She storms off.

Jess talks with her dad, who reminds her that she doesn't need to take care of him. He wants to marry Ashley. They see her getting out of a van with a guy, but it's just her sponsor. Ashley packs up to leave, but Jess runs into the road to stop her and help her dad propose. She is hit by bikers, but still manages to help her dad pry the ring out. Ashley says yes.
