'New Girl' Season 3, Episode 8: 'Menus' Recap

Nick finds Hop Foo Chinese menus under the door in the morning and gets take-out for breakfast. Jess thinks it's adorable, but goes off to talk to her principal about Ocean Conservation Day since most of the kids know nothing about the ocean.

She talks with him, but he refuses her transportation costs.

Coach wants to talk to Nick about his fitness. Coah wants to train him. He'd train Winston too, but he injured himself on the court (eating ice cream). Schmidt comes in to drop off his key.

Student Crystal comes up with her hot dog hat, excited to go and see the ocean. Jess has to tell her Ocean Day is canceled.

Jess gets home and finds a bunch of menus under the door. She is furious. She goes to the restaurant. The man she speaks with, Brian, totally agrees that the menus are hurting the environment. He flatters her and tells her she will talk to his boss.

Coach starts working with Nick. Winston wants to work out with them, but makes his injury worse.

Jess is proud she got her message across - until another menu slides under the door. She goes out and chases the man down, to a van where Brian is sitting. He admits he lied, and he is the boss. He doesn't care about conservation. Jess declares a war against him.

Coach and Nick start to work out. Schmidt overhears and is jealous. CeCe arrives with bags of Chinese food - Nick texted her that Jess needed emergency food. Nick tries to eat a dumpling but an argument ensues. Coach smacks his food away.

Winston still wants to be involved but he needs to stay off his feet. He has a wheelchair he found in a ditch. He eats while the two fight, and his jaw locks up. He has an MSG allergy. Jess notes the menus claim to be MSG free, and wheels Winston off to confront Brian.

Brian tells her to accept things the way they are. She refuses, and scares off every patron at the restaurant with Winston.

Nick finds Coach making Island beats, since he can't coach anymore. He's been lost since he broke up with his girlfriend. Schmidt comes in with an old "alarm clock" that is actually a camera.

Brian tells Jess she won. He fires his menu guy, horrifying her. She goes home, upset. She and Coach sit on the couch and eat Chinese food in defeat. Nick gives them a pep talk. Jess realizes her solution.

They rent the Hop Foo van and bring Jess' kids to the beach. Crystal gives Jess her hot dog hat, and the kids bury poor Winston in the sand. Schmidt comes along, admitting he misses everyone, and that he has a surplus of keys.
