'New Girl' Season 3, Episode 3: 'Double Date' Recap

Schmidt is on the phone with Elizabeth making plans for the night, but hangs up quickly when CeCe comes out of the bedroom. Nick and Jess come out and invite the two for a double date. Schmidt panics but agrees.

Winston comes out having a long conversation with Ferguson. He realizes they're all talking about going out on a date, and asks if he can come too. He promises to get reservations at a good restaurant, Picca, and they agree.

Nick and Jess are in bed, where she's showing him an elbow injury from fist pumping at a Weird Al concert. CeCe comes in and asks to talk to Jess about Schmidt. She thinks he's on drugs. He's had sort of a strange energy lately.

Nick and Jess tell her she's being nuts. Schmidt is not on drugs, and he's crazy about her. Jess convinces Nick to talk to him for CeCe.

Winston goes to Picca and tries to get a reservation, but they're booked out for seven weeks. She offers the community table.

Nick goes to talk to Schmidt, and asks him if he is on drugs. Schmidt confesses to Nick that he is dating both CeCe and Elizabeth. Nick tells him he has to choose. Schmidt is excited that he and Nick are now in it together, but Nick insists he wants no part of it.

He tries to prepare himself for seeing Jess and CeCe, telling himself he can just lie to Jess about talking to Schmidt. When Jess comes in he puts on a motorcycle helmet to avoid talking.

Winston goes to the community table at Picco and beings eating off other peoples' plates to scare them off.

After "no-kiss" sex, Nick crumbles and confesses to Jess. She runs out and confronts Schmidt, telling him he must tell CeCe the truth. He can tell her, or she'll tell her. CeCe comes in and Jess pushes Schmidt to tell CeCe. He races her outside before any truths can be told.

Winston has managed to clear the entire table, and ordered eight entrees which he has been picking at to keep the table. Schmidt drives like a maniac with CeCe on the way to the restaurant, and he tells CeCe that Nick is cheating on Jess. Schmidt thinks perhaps they should stay away from Nick for a while, but CeCe insists that they go to the restaurant and junk-punch the situation.

Nick and Jess pursue as Jess berates Nick for being afraid of Schmidt.

At the table, a couple tries to sit with Winston but he pretends to speak another language and yells at them. He calls Jess and Nick, who are late. Schmidt and CeCe get to Picco and CeCe rushes inside, but Schmidt lingers in the car, to the concern of the valet.

CeCe busts in and screams for Nick. Jess and Nick arrive, and Jess rushes in. Nick notices Schmidt resisting the valet, and joins him in the car. Schmidt admits he didn't mean for anything like this to happen. Nick tells him he has to do the right thing now.

Schmidt still can't go in. Nick says he can't let Jess tell CeCe, and goes in. Before Jess can spit out the truth, CeCe groin punches Nick. Schmidt comes in and tells CeCe he has been cheating on her with Elizabeth. He confesses he didn't want to her hurt her.

CeCe cries and tells him goodbye.

Nick and Jess prepare for bed while Jess anxiously awaits a call from CeCe. They hear Elizabeth yelling in the hall and rush out to find her rubbing a pie onto Schmidt's face. CeCe called her.

Schmidt blames Nick and Jess for the situation. He declares he will break the two of them up if it's the last thing he does. Jess admits he is kind of scary.
