'New Girl' Season 3, Episode 15: 'Exes' Recap

Nick runs into his ex, Caroline, at the Farmer's Market. Panicked, he falls into a table of fruit and has to buy it all, which he explains to Winston.

Jess tells them that she has a great relationship with her ex, Berkley. Nick says that's because he wants to bone her. She and Nick argue about whether you can be friends with an ex without just keeping them for possible sex. Jess wants Nick to speak to Caroline and get some closure. He refuses - he says Caroline has a crazy streak.

Jess refuses to give up the Farmer's Market. Nick needs to clear the air with Caroline, period.

Schmidt comes to announce he has finished his loft and wants them to go see it. No one will go look. At the bar he tries to hit on a woman but it doesn't work. He admits to CeCe he's in a sexual drought. It is making him pretty weird and creepy.

Caroline meets with Nick to find out why he left. Nick tells Jess it went well, afterward. Caroline sees them as she's driving away and pulls over, furious. Nick left out the part where he's now dating Jess. He admits to Jess he couldn't do it.

He gets a text later from Caroline, who thinks he cheated on her with Jess. Jess suggests Nick talk to Berkley. He takes her phone and reads the text to Berkley, and notes she is leading him on with flirty words. He finally agrees to talk to Berkley.

Coach and Winston go to Schmidt's, lured by free sub sandwich coupons. He gives them keys and tries to keep them there, lonely.

Berkley comes to speak with Nick. He tells Nick to face Caroline and let her get it all off her chest. Impressed by the strangely healthy relationship between Jess and Berkley, he agrees to try and be friends.

Schmidt finally picks up a woman at the bar and gives her his address. He goes home and finds Coach impersonating him, with a woman there.

Berkley sneaks into the kitchen and tells Jess he's ready to leave his wife and be with her. He loves her. Jess is shocked. She tells him NIck was right but he can't know that, so to shut up about it. Nick comes in, getting texts from Caroline. He goes to the window and finds Caroline destroying a car... not his car, however. Jess tries to get Berkley to go but Nick insists he stay.

Coach refuses to leave, about to seal the deal with his lady. Schmidt finally agrees to use the guest room, but finds it occupied by Winston and another woman. The girl from the bar comes to find Schmidt and Schmidt organizes an arrangement to keep everyone from interacting. It fails. The girls discover the situation and storm out.

Caroline runs up and begins beating on the door, while Berkley confesses his love and Nick realizes he was right. Berkley lets Caroline in, and she accuses Jess of stealing Nick. She tells him it won't be long before Nick stops treating her well. Jess will be the ex one day, and she'll never know what happened, just like Caroline. Jess goes and hides in the shower.

Nick goes to talk to her and she admits Nick was right. He tells her both women need to hear why he left. He brings her out and tells Caroline he never cheated but might as well have. He fell in love with Jess the moment he saw her. He left Caroline because of Jess.

Caroline always thought that's what happened. Now she is pleased to know she is not crazy.

Jess tells Berkley she's sorry she led him on and he reluctantly leaves. Jess admits it was a long time for her before she liked Nick, but he kisses her anyway.
