'New Girl's' Schmidt to Have Arch Enemy
by Shannon Keirnan
Looks like Schmidt is going to have more to worry about this season than which cardi goes with which set of pleated pants.
Last season saw the super-adorable but seriously high maintenance Schmidt, played perfectly by Max Greenfield, attempting to “White Fang” the lovely and rather too normal Cece away from him.
While Cece didn’t quite “g’on, git!” as instructed, it did bring some major tension into the open, and the two parted ways, despite Schmidt’s clear but awkward love for the honey-skinned beauty.
Upcoming episodes will feature a new rival for Cece’s affections, played by perfectly nerdy Nelson Franklin. You may have seen Franklin and his thick glasses in “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World,” playing that guy you think maybe you saw a few times in “The Office.”
On the quirk-loving FOX comedy Franklin has been cast as Robby, a half deaf and “embarrassingly bad” dancer who somehow works his way into the guarded heart of high-profile Cece.
Did her fling with Schmidt knock her off the modelizing bus or are we missing some key information here?
Either way it’s easy to imagine Schmidt won’t be too thrilled about the news, having broken up with Cece so he could release her back into her natural territory of chiseled abs and air-brushed complexions in the first place.
Knowing the show, Schmidt will have plenty of strangely hilarious one-liners to express his opinion on the unlikely pairing, as well as the dirty kitchen and Nick’s turtleface.
So have Cece and Schmidt split for good?
Meh, probably not.
But the comedic potential until they reunite has us sliding on our good pea coats and driving moccasins and waiting impatiently for the show’s return.
