'New Girl' Spoilers - So Now What?

After the shocking kiss in Tuesday’s episode, what lies ahead for Nick and Jess?

Series creator Liz Meriwether chimes in during an interview with TVGuide.com. “The first draft of the episode was that they actually didn’t kiss at the end.”

“We felt like it was just time,” she adds. “We decided to do the kiss and we didn’t know what it was going to be like.”

“The first time they kissed on set, the whole crew applauded.”

She explains that they felt the season was building to the point, and adding the kiss then felt like the right thing to do. “I just really wanted it to happen, to be totally honest.”

But what does this mean in terms of their friendship? How will it affect the other roommates? How will it affect Jess’s relationship with Sam?

“It feels like Pandora’s Box has been opened, in a good way.”

There are many obstacles in store for them. Jess has to deal with the fact she is currently in a relationship, and they both have to deal with the problem of being roommates.

Earlier, it was revealed that Jess will have another love interest (that isn’t Sam) in future episodes, but Meriwether reveals there is a love interest in store for Nick as well.

“They’re trying to run away from each other pretty hard after it happens.” The love interests will act as an excuse for them not to admit their true feelings about each other.

The roommates, and we can only assume Sam, find out about the kiss, and they will not be too thrilled about it, as it affects the roommate dynamics.

When asked about where she sees the season ending, she reveals that they are “figuring that out right now in the writers’ room.” The question of whether or not they get together is still up in the air.
