In the sex dream, Nick was wearing his helmet. CeCe tells her to calm down, it was probably just because she and Sam are getting serious. Jess is determined to clear everything Nick gave her so she can clear her brain of Nick. Nick finds his stuff outside and gets upset. First they got rid of his leftovers, now his things! Nick is furious, but he finds out when Jess and CeCe panic that she had a dream about him involving the helmet. He refuses to get rid of the helmet until she tells him every detail of the dream. She tells him and they fight about whether or not Sam is satisfying her, and the meaning behind the helmet. Nick says it meant something to him; she disagrees and says he just didn't know what to give her at Christmas. During the fight she puts it on and can't get it off.
As it's a child's helmet.
Schmidt and Winston meet Trip, the agent, with Ferguson. Trip doesn't think the cat has what it takes. Winston is humiliated. Schmidt, however, has stolen a script off his desk and plans to crash an audition for Avatar with the cat. They go but realize that Ferguson would be way over his head. Schmidt drenches himself in catnip oil, and all of the other cats in the lobby, including Trip's star, chase after him.
Sam is at the door and Jess asks CeCe to stall him so she can get the helmet off. She tries to break it off but Nick stops her and asks her not to. It turns out to him it really did mean something - his dad gave it to him. Nick tries to help her get it off, and Sam comes in to find them in an inventful and compromising position. She explains everything to him. Sam decides to trust her it means nothing, but when he offers to break it off her head and she won't let him, he is hurt, and goes to meet his parents alone.
Jess is crushed, and Nick decides to break the helmet off of her. He has decided to stop coming in between her and Sam, since Sam is a good guy. Jess manages to get there in time to meet Sam's dads.
Winston auditions with Ferguson, who is doofy. The agents love it. He's an "original." Trip is upset. He thinks Winston is going out of his way to intimidate him. Aly already talks about him all the time. Winston realizes the two are in competition without even knowing it.
Later Aly asks what he thought of Trip, because his opinion means a lot to her, and Winston says he just wants her to be happy.
Jess gives Nick a gift - she saved the logo from the helmet and had it framed.
