'New Girl' Casts 'True Blood' and 'Party Down' Alum Lizzy Caplan

'New Girl' Casts 'True Blood' and 'Party Down' Alum Lizzy Caplan Write a funny show, and the talent will come. That seems to be the mantra of Fox's "New Girl," which is quickly filling up with some talented comedic actors. Besides the fact that the show already stars Zooey Deschanel (who is sublime as Jess), "New Girl" has also picked up Justin Long for a multi-episode arc.

The latest to join the show is "Party Down" and "True Blood" alum Lizzy Caplan. Caplan made a big splash playing Janice in "Mean Girls" and also played a large role in "Cloverfield" before landing on the aforementioned premium cable shows.

Caplan will be playing Julia on "New Girl," an art historian who becomes a love interest for Nick (Jake Johnson), who just buried the hatchet with his ex Caroline on last night's episode. Caplan is currently signed for a three-episode arc.

The writers seem to be setting up a nice love quadrangle on the show, as Justin Long's character is said to be a possible love interest for Deschanel's Jess. Meanwhile, it seems pretty clear that the chemistry between Jess and Nick is growing to a point where we could get a "The Office"-esque Jim and Pam scenario between the two.
