New Episodes of 'Breaking Bad' to Stream Next Day on Netflix UK
by EGIf you live in the United Kingdom or Ireland and are a Netflix subscriber, you won't have to wait long to see the final episodes of "Breaking Bad" on the streaming service.
Variety reports that Netflix and Sony Pictures Television have signed a deal that will allow Netflix to offer new episodes of the series to its UK/Ireland customers the day after the episodes air on AMC.
Anticipation is high for the second half of "Breaking Bad"'s final season, which will begin hitting the air on Aug. 11. The series' high profile has been boosted, also, by the Emmy nominations it was recently given, including nominations for Outstanding Drama Series, Lead Actor in a Drama Series, Supporting Actress in a Drama Series and Supporting Actor in a Drama Series (for which both Aaron Paul and Jonathan Banks were nominated).
Currently, the first four seasons of "Breaking Bad" are available to Netflix subscribers in the UK and Ireland, as they are to customers in the United States and Canada, but the deal will give UK/Ireland customers exclusive access to episodes of the fifth and final season of the series, with each new episode becoming available on Mondays, the day after they air on US television on Sunday nights.
Variety speculates that Sony may have entered into the deal in order to lessen the impact of piracy of the show in countries outside the United States.
