New CW Episodes Coming to Netflix?

Netflix already has a sweet deal with Disney that will make some of the biggest movies of 2016 available on the streaming service, and a potential new deal could make some of the most popular fantasy-based TV series more easily accessible to Netflix subscribers, too.

Variety reports that Netflix and The CW are close to wrapping up a deal that would make new episodes of CW series available on Netflix soon after the end of each series' season. Currently subscribers have to wait quite a while - usually several months and typically right before the start of the next season - to stream new episodes, but the new deal would reportedly make new episode available as soon as two weeks after the end of the previous season.

If the deal goes through, it would bring Netflix close to offering real-time streaming of current series, something that has been conspicuously lacking from the service. Actual timely availability to currently airing series is unlikely to come to CW series - or any other TV series - on Netflix, though, since an increasing number of networks and studios are launching their own streaming services to compete with Netflix and the other big independent streaming services.
