New Character Pics From 'Game of Thrones' Season Three Are Out!
by Shannon KeirnanAre you excited yet for the “Game of Thrones” season three premiere?
How about after seeing some character shots?
New cast members will be joining “Game of Thrones” for its third season, coming to HBO at the end of March.
Diana Rigg included, which had even George R.R. Martin a little starstruck.
The author gushed, “I flash back to my youth and all those days I spent watching 'The Avengers' and … Emma Peel, wow! That’s pretty amazing.”
Rigg will step into the role of Lady Olenna Tyrell, the Queen of Thorns.
Eight other cast members were announced.
Clive Russell will be playing Brynden “The Blackfish Tully,” with Thomas Brodie Sangster as Jojen Reed.
Ellie Kendrick will take on the role of Meera Reed, with Richard Dormer as Beric Dondarrion, Paul Kaye as Thoros of Mye, Nathalie Emmanuel as Missandei, Mackenzie Crook as Orell, and Kerry Ingram as Shireen Baratheon.
Though the pictures don’t reveal too much, they give one a good peek at what the characters will be like—and what favorite characters will be encountering in the upcoming season.
Daenerys, it would seem, has mustered up an army to march forward with, and Tyrion Lannister is recovering from a few facial wounds earned at the Battle of Blackwater.
The third season will also feature cameos from Snow Patrol lead singer Gary Lightbody, in a role he claims is “not pivotal,” and Coldplay drummer Will Champion as, well, a drummer.
What do you think of the photos—do they do the characters their due justice?
