The New 'Catching Fire' Poster Really Sizzles

Well this is new and cool.

The sequel to “The Hunger Games” has released a theatrical poster—that MOVES.

Awesome.

The “Catching Fire” poster is a great nod to the first and second novel. The cover of the first novel features the Mockingjay pin holding an arrow. In the poster, you can watch that image catch fire, and the bird removes its own arrow and changes into the slightly altered Mockingjay from the second novel.

The poster hints at the plotline of the second movie, which deals with a new and confusing arena that Katniss and Peeta must navigate when they are forced to return to the Hunger Games during a newly mandated “Quarter Quell.”

“Every revolution begins with a spark,” reads the dark lettering below the flaming bird.

If the poster is an alteration of the original, it will be interesting to see how they plan to make it morph into the image from the third novel—an entirely different picture of a Mockingjay flying against a blue sky. It might be challenging to make the transition so smooth, but if they can pull it off, it will be pretty sweet.

The movie will release next year. Almost exactly a year, actually—November 22nd. Can you handle the wait?

Stars like Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Woody Harrelson, and Donald Sutherland will be reprising their roles.

Newcomers include Jena Malone, Sam Clafin, Amanda Plummer, Jeffery Wright, Meta Golding, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, and Lynn Cohen.
