New 'Adventures of Tintin' Trailer Blasts Its Way Online; Watch a Preview of Spielberg's First 3D Adventure

Steven Spielberg is one busy man. Not only is he seemingly producing a movie every other week this summer ("Super 8," "Transformers: Dark of the Moon," "Cowboys & Aliens"), he has not one, but two new movies coming out this December. And not just producing efforts, mind you - he directed these things. And while we've only had teases at each ("War Horse" and "The Adventures of Tintin"), we now have a much clearer idea of what we're in for with his first 3D computer-animated movie.

That's right - even though Spielberg is known for being a visual effects pioneer, he's yet to dip his toes into the 3D craze, and has never directed any sort of animated film.

The first teaser didn't do much to inspire confidence, but this second one, to quote someone on my Twitter feed this morning, looks like the "Indiana Jones" movie we never got. It's big and wild and explosive and just plain looks like a big bowl of fun. I love the heightened tone, not just in the silly, cartoonish character designs, but especially in the over-the-top dialogue delivery.

I've never read the "Tintin" comics myself, but they have a huge following internationally. The trailer also gives us uninformed a good sense (good enough for a trailer anyway) of who these peope are.

For any readers in the U.K., "Tintin" comes out October 26th, but we Yanks will have to wait 'til December 23rd (I guess they did create the character and all). Check out the trailer below:
