Netflix Originals: 'Turbo' and 'House of Cards' Coming Soon
by EGNetflix announced plans this week for some new original content that will be available for streaming over the next few months. One new series will appeal to young viewers, and a new season of a favorite original series will please older viewers.
Five episodes of "Turbo FAST" will start streaming on Dec. 24. The original animated series, produced by Dreamworks Animation Television, is based on the characters introduced in this summer's theatrical film "Turbo." The big-screen release was a disappointing performer at the domestic box office, but both Dreamworks and Netflix hope that the small-screen version will be more successful at charming young viewers.
Unlike other Netflix originals, "Turbo FAST" won't debut on the streaming service all at once. The five episodes that premiere on Christmas Eve will be joined by new episodes that will be introduced throughout the coming year.
Viewers who devoured all the episodes of the first season of "House of Cards" in one binge-viewing session will be happy to hear that the second season of the series will stick to the old all-at-once release format. Thirteen new episodes of "House of Cards" will be available for streaming on Feb. 14, 2014. "House of Cards" was the first streaming-only series to be nominated for an Emmy award, and it won three Emmys, including one for director David Fincher.
