Netflix 'Lost in Space' Reboot to Debut in 2018

A rebooted version of Lost in Space, the classic campy 1960s TV series has been long in the making, but Netflix announced this week that it will bring a 10-episode reboot series to the service by sometime in 2018. The series boasts an unusual pedigree, including producer Zack Estrin (Prison Break), writers Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless (Power Rangers), and director Neil Marshall (Game of Thrones).
The original Lost in Space, starring June Lockhart and Guy Williams, aired on CBS between 1965 and 1968 and followed the adventures of the Robinsons, a family trying to get home after their space mission is derailed by sabotage.
The series was adapted to film in 1998; the reboot starring William Hurt, Matt LeBlanc, Gary Oldman, Heather Graham and Mimi Rogers was a critical and box-office bomb.
A reboot television series was developed by The WB in 2003, but the pilot, which was directed by John Woo (Mission: Impossible II), did not impress, and the network did not pick up the series.
The production company Legendary Television picked up an option to make a new Lost in Space TV series in 2014, but the series had not been able to find a potential home. The Netflix order for 10 episodes will, however, finally allow the series to go into production.
