Netflix Gets Exclusive Rights to 'The Killing'

Netflix Gets Exclusive Rights to 'The Killing' Netflix again gets the rights to exclusively air a popular show. This time it’s “The Killing” you won’t expect to find anywhere else. Netflix alone will stream the third season of the show after its season finale on AMC.

No real surprise, however. Netflix strategies were a big assist in bringing back the show, which had originally been cancelled.

"Our agreement with Netflix played an extremely significant part in the studio's strategy that enabled us to bring 'The Killing' back for a third season," said David Madden, president of Fox Television Studios.

"We are delighted to be in business with Netflix to deliver season 3, as well as past seasons of 'The Killing' to a broader audience worldwide."

Season 1 and 2 already stream on Netflix, so fans can find all their episodes in one place. Production on the new season began in February, and the show will air in May.

"We're excited to see 'The Killing' back on TV and we're especially proud to bring season 3 to our members so soon after it premieres on AMC," said Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer of Netflix.  "The Killing is a terrific serialized drama and we know our members love these high-quality shows."

The show features Sarah Linden and Steven Holder, returning a year after the Rosie Larsen murder case. Linden is no longer a detective, but she is still drawn into her old habits when Holder discovers a string of murders that echo one of Linden’s previous investigations.
